Clinical Genomics Centre - Gene Profiling Facility (previously Analytical Genetics Technology Centre) is a genotyping core facility funded by Canada Foundation for Innovation and University Health Network (UHN). This facility brings together University of Toronto research institute and hospital-based scientists to execute a genome research program. The 5,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art, genotyping facility operates under cGLP guidelines to meet the rigorous standards necessary for DNA analysis and generating quality genotyping data. Sample handling and processing are fully automated and are performed by advanced robotics that includes Biomek FX and NX liquid handling systems, and Innovadyne Nanodrop ExtY non-contact liquid dispensing system which allow for improved precision and throughputs in excess of 5,000 SNP genotypes per day. The facility is equipped with a number of platforms for high throughput SNP identification and genotyping including Illumina/Solexa Genome Sequencer GAII, Illumina iSCAN, Sequenom MassARRAYTM system, Affymetrix GeneChip system, ABI 3730xl and 3130xl Genetic Analyser, and ABI PRISM® 7900HT Sequence Detection System. The Gene Profiling Facility can accommodate and process all sample formats and hosts an Oracle based database which facilitates easy storage and retrieval of data.
